We're Hiring — Head of Brand

Location: Alexandria, Sydney
Reports To: General Manager/CMO
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

About Us

We produce original Australian-designed furniture and accessories for interior designers, architects, and consumers worldwide. Our mission is to build a global brand that showcases the best of Australian design, empowering designers to do what they love while delivering world-class, accessible design.

About The Role

As the Head of Brand, you will be the custodian of Design By Them’s visual identity, market reputation & PR, and commercial storytelling. We are a tight-knit, ambitious team of 30, and this role is the perfect blend of big-picture strategy and hands-on execution.

Your core mission is to ensure DBT is accurately and beautifully positioned in the market, widely recognised, and that our sales team is continuously fuelled by a healthy pipeline of high-quality inbound leads. You will champion our brand across all touchpoints - from our digital footprint to our physical showroom.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Strategy & Market Positioning

Brand Guardianship: Maintain and evolve Design By Them’s brand positioning, tone of voice, and visual identity, ensuring flawless consistency across all online channels, resources and touchpoints.

Strategic Partnerships & PR: Identify, build, and maintain powerful alliances with architects, designers, and industry collaborators to expand our market reach, driving brand visibility through co-branded activations, high-impact press coverage, and strategic partnerships.

Thought Leadership & Industry Presence: Oversee the brand’s community presence, including design awards submissions, industry panels, speaking opportunities, and sustainability/CSR initiatives.

Growth & Lead Generation

Inbound Pipeline: Own the design and delivery of marketing strategies that will flood potential customers into the business, and drive high-quality inbound trade and retail leads.

Campaign & Content Strategy: Define the overarching content strategy and marketing calendars across email, social media, and advertising.

Promotions & Launches: Plan, execute, and oversee the rollout of product launches, overseas exhibitions, seasonal promotions, and brand moments.

Digital & Physical Experience

Digital & E-commerce Excellence: Oversee the E-commerce Coordinator in optimising website performance, improving our user experience, ensuring technical excellence, and driving digital revenue growth.

Showroom & Exhibitions: Oversee the strategy for our physical display environment, ensuring the showroom and events deliver a rich brand experience, is impeccably merchandised, and is optimised for our customer experience.

Creative Direction: Provide high-level art direction for photoshoots, advertising assets, and graphic design outputs to keep our aesthetic sharp and premium.

Team Leadership & Operations

Team Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and foster the productivity of our Marketing Coordinator and E-commerce Coordinator, helping them execute day-to-day tasks effectively.

Performance Tracking & Data: Utilise website analytics and campaign data to monitor high-level success measures, including e-commerce & trade portal targets, pipeline value, showroom foot traffic, and gross marketing ROI.

Agency Management: Manage relationships with external suppliers, freelancers, and photographers as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 5+ years of experience in brand management or marketing leadership, ideally within the design, furniture, architecture or luxury retail sectors.

Mindset: A strategic doer. You love high-level brand strategy but are equally comfortable rolling your sleeves up and jumping in when needed.

A Creative Eye: You have a deep appreciation for good design and a strong aesthetic instinct. You understand how to market premium products to a design-conscious audience.

Digital & E-commerce Savvy: A strong working knowledge of digital marketing and e-commerce ecosystems. You understand user experience, conversion rate optimisation, and how to leverage digital channels to drive data-driven growth.

Project & Event Management: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and multiple moving parts simultaneously.

Team Management: Proven experience managing or mentoring junior-to-mid level team members. You know how to delegate effectively without losing track of quality.

Commercial Balance: You understand that beautiful branding must ultimately drive commercial results, balancing creative outputs with leads, traffic, and sales pipelines.
